Our Walks

Over the years we have found many special places to walk throughout Oxfordshire and Berkshire and make a point of visiting these walks many times throughout the month, thus giving your dog plenty of variety.

  • On hot days we walk through woods and by rivers to give your dog the opportunity to be in shade, cool down and have plenty to drink.
  • In the winter months we go across open land so the dogs have plenty of space to run around, thus keeping warm.
  • We do not always restrict our walks to the hour and wil often keep them out for much longer, especially if they are not too tired and capable of longer walks.
  • We try to match dogs of the same age, size and stamina so they get the most out of our walks.
We try our utmost to consider wet days and avoid muddy areas but should your dog enjoy wallowing in mud and locates this before we have time to stop them, we clean and dry them as much as possible with the equipment we carry. If customers have an accessable and working hose pipe, we can use if required.
  • We find that small dogs tend to suffer the cold, especially if they get wet, so we carry coats which we put on them after the walk and which they wear during the journey home.
  • We continually re-enforce good behaviour and control, calling each dog back to us periodically to encourage them to stay by us and not to wander.
When we get a newcomer, we spend time introducing them to them to the other dogs and encouraging them to become part of the pack.
  • We focus on our new edition throughout the first couple of walks and encourage them to interact with others.
Our Day Care Facilities

With Plenty of land, a river frontage and an outside building your dog is going to have a wonderful day.
  • In addition to lots of secured land, we have an outside building for resting, chewing, drying and fussing.
  • Our day care dogs are treated as if they are our own.
  • If owners permit, we offer specially prepared bones.
  • Some dogs prefer to be segregated during rest or chewing periods, so we have crates they can use.
  • Our day care dogs are very rarely left alone. Only on occasions for toilet visits and the making of refreshments
  • If we have just one or two dogs during the day, we often bring them into the Vicarage, where they enjoy real home comforts.
  • Lots of fun and games, walks and cuddles. They go home very happy indeed.

Training and Behaviour advice

Helen has many years experience and can only advise you on the best way to bring up your dog.  Due to her work load, she does not find the time to train dogs at the Vicarage anymore, but will endevour to assist wherever she can.
  • In exceptional circumstances, especially with lead training, Helen will find the time to bring dogs to the Vicarage.
  • For dogs that tend to wander, Helen can offer advice and will assist with this type of training during her walks.

We have a blog at http://dogwalkingandpetservicesoxonandberks.wordpress.com/ where you can get lots of tips and advice on dog behaviour and training.
